How It All Started

BSM Bullies is a family-owned kennel in Hawaii, founded in 2020 out of a deep love for French Bulldogs. Our journey began years earlier on a trip to Los Angeles, when we spotted a lilac Frenchie in a shoe store and instantly fell in love. That moment planted the seed for what would later become our passion and our business.

A few years later, we welcomed our first Frenchie, Skai, into our home. Two weeks later came Marley, and soon after, Bugsy. We had no initial plans to breed, but curiosity (and love) led us to try. Those three dogs not only became the heart of our home — their names inspired the “BSM” in BSM Bullies. The name also carries deeper meaning: it represents the initials of our family — my name, my husband’s name, our children’s names — and even my grandmother’s initials.

When we decided to breed for the first time, we prepared with the best equipment: an incubator, whelping box, oxygen machine, heat source, and supplements. We believed we were ready.

But nothing could have prepared us for what came next. We lost both of our first litters at just 2–3 weeks old. Later, through necropsies and blood tests, we learned the heartbreaking cause: the mother carried CHV – Canine Herpes Virus, a virus that often affects a first litter and has a very low survival rate. There was nothing we could have done to save them.

That moment could have ended our breeding journey — but it became the driving force behind our mission. We refused to give up. Instead, we dedicated ourselves to learning everything possible about breeding, whelping, and puppy care. We took online classes, attended webinars, studied veterinary research, and built trusted relationships with experienced veterinarians. We were even blessed to train in Sacramento with a veterinary breeder, learning the critical details of timing, progesterone testing, TCI (transcervical insemination), and more.

Today, BSM Bullies stands as a trusted name in Hawaii’s breeding community, known for our expertise, compassion, and willingness to help others. Breeders and pet owners alike reach out to us for advice, supplies, and hands-on support.
